Urges Nigerians to Accommodate, Tolerate One Another

Governments at all levels have been urged to support Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) to enable it deliver on its mandate. The Comrade National President of RATTAWU, Dr. Kabir Garba Tsanni made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Abuja equally appealed to Nigerians to learn to accommodate and tolerate one another to live together in peace.

Comrade Kabir Garba said the role of RATTAWU towards shaping the society positively can never be overemphasised and called on governments and cooperate establishments to assist members of the union with facilities to project and exhibit their talents.

He said RATTAWU has the capacity to promote the cooperate entity of the country noting that tensions erupting from ethnic identity can be doused through Arts and proper information.

Comrade Kabir Garba said “First and foremost is the issue of tolerance. We should be able to accommodate and tolerate each other; because we have come a long way. Nigeria is a country and a federation. And if we believe in federalism, we have to accommodate each and everyone of us.

“In this six geo political zones we have in Nigeria, we have different ethnic groups; we have different understanding, different perspectives as we have different angles from which we are looking at things. But it has to be with total decorum; we must believe, we must remain one.

“And this can only be done through advocacy visits, enlightenment, education and other measures that will ensure that unity is attained in Nigeria. And we are on course.

“As a union, we’re doing our best but we cannot do it all without the collective efforts of all Nigerians”, he said.

Comrade Sanni described RATTAWU as the largest Union in country that is saddled with the responsibility of marketing the country to the outside world.

He urged members of the Union across the country to remain good ambassadors of the Union and focus more on issues that will promote peace in the country, while commending them for the quality of their work, which he said is very encouraging.

“It is RATTAWU members that market the country in terms of image making. So, we’re the image makers of this country and we are doing our best to ensure that such is done”, he said.
