No one should make any mistake about it: at least 95% of South-Easterners, given what we have been through in Nigeria since 1966, would rather be independent of Nigeria than Nigerians, the South East Presidency Project 2023 group has said.

“But in the collective socioeconomic and political interest of all ancient African peoples in all modern African countries, about 5% of South-East Nigerians now want to use promise and actual emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction to douse separatist agitation in the region and win over the separatist agitators to the pan-Nigerian and pan-African cause.

“And we have made appreciable progress with the South-East APC Presidency Project 2023 agenda since January 2020 when we launched it. Most South-Easterners are now ready to give us a chance of reconciling our many grievances with Nigeria with our 2023 presidential project agenda”, the said in a statement signed by its national coordinator, Dr Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu.

According to him, “What they want is President of Nigeria of South-East extraction and nothing else. Otherwise, Nigeria’s future can only be described as “bleak”.

“Between the two main parties and among all serious parties of Nigeria, APC – a progressive platform that happens to be the incumbent party at the centre, with President of Nigeria of Northern extraction – is best positioned to deliver on that promise.

“That is why it would be sacrilegious of any Southerner to secretly or openly lobby for National Chairmanship of APC ahead of 2023.

“We said this before and must today repeat that warning. National Championship of APC of Southern extraction would amount to technical exclusion of the South (including the South-East) from the APC’s 2023 presidential ticket. And for the sake of Nigeria and Africa, that must not happen”, he reiterated.

Dr Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu added, “We strongly advise any Southerner who might be tempted by any selfish and greedy Northern elements to lobby and contest for National Chairmanship of APC to run for Presidency of Nigeria on the same APC. If you are good enough for National Chairmanship, you are good enough for Presidency.

“If the misguided Southerner is of South-East extraction, we have told you that we have the structures and numbers to achieve overwhelming victory at both primary election (70% of delegates) and general election (over 50 million votes).

“Don’t be a chicken or a Doubting Thomas. We have not been in the South-East APC Presidency Project 2023 since January 2020 for nothing. We are not asking you to issue a public statement expressing your intention to run just yet.

“Just put a call to the National Coordinator and let him know of your intention to declare publicly when the time becomes right. When that time comes and if we deem you the best presidential material of South-East extraction on APC platform, you will inherit from us a fully furnished presidential campaign network that will give you both the presidential ticket at primary and the general election victory in 2023. Trust us.

“If in doubt, we would assemble just 10 million of our over 50 million voters for your inspection. And no one else can match our numbers. NO ONE ELSE!”, the South East APC Presidency Project 2023 group said.
