The leadership and the entire membership of the Niger Delta Youth Leaders Administrative Council has declared their total and unilateral support for the Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa joint Presidential ticket under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The prominent Youth Leaders at the end of a Stakeholders meeting recently in Asaba,
the Delta State capital, drafted a Communique which in summary mapped out strategy to mobilize youths across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, to ensure the success of Atiku/Okowa at the 2023 general election.
In a statement, the group noted that the duo of former Vice President Abubakar Abubakar and his running mate, Governnor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, have the requisite knowledge and the tonic wine needed to turn round the fortune of nation’s battered economy.
Amb. Hope George, JP, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) political to Governnor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, the convener of the meeting, who addressed selected group of media executives, said:
“After a consumate and due delibrations we the Youth Leaders and the entire membership of the Youth Administrative Council declared our total support at the Stakeholders Meeting in Asaba headquaters of Delta State on Monday 5th September, to do everything within our Power and jurisdiction to mobilize women and Youths at the grassroot level across the six geopolitical zones to cast their vote enmass for Atiku/Okowa joint ticket.”
He explained that the youth leaders’ support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was due to his contributions to politics and the private sector in Nigeria.
The renowned youth leader explained further that their support for Governor Okowa’s Vice Presidential candidature was due to the governor’s laudable achievements in Delta State and his contribution to the PDP so far.
Amb. George maintained that Governor Okowa has a score card in Delta State, adding that Governor Okowa has contributed so much to the development of young people and therefore deserved to be the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
George, who was former Vice President of National Youth Council of Nigeria and has served Nigeria youths in different capacities, stated that the Stakeholders Meeting was long over due.
He also stated that there was great need for Nigerians to remain one as one strong country.
He noted that Nigeria has long been neglected by the All Progressive Congress (APC) led Federal government.
He therefore reasoned that Nigerians need Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to come on board in order to add value to the economy of Nigeria.
He disclosed that the Niger Delta youth leaders have plans to have a meeting with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to discuss the challenges facing young people in the region, in no distance time.
