2023: You Don’t Need Yoruba, Igbo Candidates – Atiku Tells Northerners in This Viral Video

The self-acclaimed unifier in Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has brought ethnic card to the political table ahead of the 2023 general elections in a viral video.

The former vice president, who is a Fulani from the North East of Nigeria has urged Nigerians from the North not to consider candidates from the South during the 2023 elections.

Atiku stated this while responding to a question posed to him by the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, during an Interactive Session With Arewa Joint Committee held on Saturday in Kaduna State.

Atiku who underplayed competence and elevated ethnic bigotry in determining the next President who succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023, said Northerners need to vote for him rather than a Yoruba or Igbo candidate because he’s a Pan-Nigerian of a northern origin.

In his words, Atiku said, “What the average Northerner needs is somebody who’s from the north and also understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country.

“This is what the Northerner needs, it doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate, I stand before you as a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin”, Atiku said.

His comments, which has generated condemnation, especially in Southern Nigeria, has exposed the PDP presidential candidate as ethnic bigot who have been pretending to be a pan-Nigerian, pondits say.
