6th Edition Mining Week: A Springboard For New Partnerships And Business Opportunities — Says Adegbite

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Architect Olamilekan Adegbite said that the the 6th Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week would cover latest industry issues, as well as providing a springboard for new partnerships business opportunities.

The Minister made this disclosure to journalists in Abuja while delivering his speech at the second Press briefing on the 6th Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week which is scheduled to take place from 1st to 3rd November 2022 at the Abuja International Conference center.

He noted that the The theme of this year’s event is titled “Successes And Achievements In The Nigerian Mining Sector”, and will highlight the giant strides of this administration through the Mineral Sector as one of the cardinal drivers of the diversification Agenda.

“As earlier mentioned, one of the key issues to be discussed would include the vital mineral resources of the future which are the building blocks for many technologies providing us with green renewable energy, while allowing us to keep in line with the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) global standards.

“We shall also deliberate on the acquisition of bankable geoscientific data, the efficient and transparent mineral title administration processes, as well as downstream opportunities in the Mining Sector and the Nigerian Mineral value-chain Regulations, 2021”, the Minister said.

Adegbite further disclose that the future minerals are globally recognized as vital for the economic wellbeing of the world’s major and emerging economies, as they are essential for producing new energies and technologies.

“These minerals primarily comprise of copper, cobalt, lithium, nickel, platinum group minerals, and to a lesser extent, aluminum, chromium, graphite, manganese, rare earth elements, and zinc. Over the next two decades, the mineral demand from electric vehicles and battery storage is predicted to grow astronomically.

“Thus, the development of these minerals or the lack thereof will determine the economic strength or weakness of a developing nation like Nigeria”, Adegbite said.

In his welcome address, the Acting President, Miners Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Muhammad noted that the 6th Edition of the annual Nigeria Mining Week would be more engaging than the previous ones.

“When we converged here mid August, the picture was no well clear to us as to the height, the depth and breadth of what is ahead of us.

“However, between then and Now, the interest generated across the globe in terms of calls from both local and international public and private investors and stakeholders has been so enormous that we are all on our toes, working round the clock to ensure that the event is not only a huge success but it lives up to expectation”, Alhaji Muhammad added.
