Sunday Musings: The Righteous Noah And The Drunken Noah…

Spread the love

Genesis 6:9 “… Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”

Genesis 7:1 “The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”

Noah was so just in God’s eyes that he was chosen by God to build an ark and save the world from the great flood.

But the same Noah was also a drunk in Genesis 9:20-23. He drank soteeey, he slept naked and exposed his nudity to his children. Yet God did not punish the drunk, he rather punished the victims of drunken exposure by their dad.

Genesis 9:20-23 “And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard. And he (Noah) drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.”

So don’t write of drunks. One might still be the next saviour you need.

Come to think of it; after building his ark, Noah carried his family and all the remaining righteous people and animals ONLY, into his ark. But after the dove returned great tidings that the great flood had subsided, sin returned along with the ark and the inhabitants back to the earth and continued, even after all the sinful people had been destroyed by God. How exactly did Satan get back into the ark? Why didn’t sin end after all the unrighteous had been destroyed?
