HRM Ezugwu Pays Courtesy Visit To Enugu CP Over Security Challenges In Opi-Nsukka
…Pledges Support for New CP’s G-3Ps Policing Initiative
His Royal Majesty, Eze Williams Ezugwu, the Eze of Ogbozarra III of the Ancient Opi Kingdom and the Igwe of Ibagwa Opi Autonomous Community, has met with the Commissioner of Police (CP), Enugu State Police Command, Kanayo Uzuegbu, over security challenges in Opi, Nsukka Local Government Area and the environs.
The royal father who paid a courtesy visit to the CP pledged support of his domain and the entire Opi-Nsukka to the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of CP Uzuegbu to tackle crimes in the area.
The CP, who took over from the former state police boss, CP Ahmed Ammani, who has been redeployed to Force Headquarters Abuja, had on assumption of duty in August launched grassroots security initiative to change the security narratives in the state.
Specifically, it was an initiative that aimed to foster cordial relationships between the police and residents of the state to enhance public security and safety.
The policing pattern, which included patrol by men of the command, is grassroots-driven, proactive, people-oriented and problem-solving (G-3Ps).
The G-3Ps initiative, the CP had revealed, will ensure the security and safety of the people, saying that it remains topmost on his policing agenda for the state.
Cashing in on the CP’s initiative, the traditional ruler visited his office to reassure the police authorities in the state of his readiness to assist the command in bringing policing closer to the people.
Recall that in recent months, Enugu-Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka Road has been in the news after gunmen took over the 15km road, abducting travellers at will and committing other crimes.
