All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) Celebrates Eid al-Adha, Calls for Sacrifice and Unity
In a heartfelt message on Sunday, the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) has extended warm congratulations to Muslims worldwide, particularly in the African continent, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, urging them to take inspiration from Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifices and work towards a better society.
HE Osisiogu Osikenyi E., President of AASU, in the message emphasised the importance of sacrifice for the greater good.
“Prophet Ibrahim’s legacy teaches us the virtue of sacrifice for a cause greater than ourselves — a principle that resonates deeply with our mission to foster unity and development across the African continent and beyond,” he stated.
The AASU President highlighted the current challenges faced by society and encouraged individuals to find inspiration in Prophet Ibrahim’s example to make sacrifices for humanity.
“Let us work together, with renewed vigor and commitment, towards building a more equitable, just, and prosperous society for all,” he added.
The Street Reporters Newspaper reports that Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
It is celebrated by Muslims around the world with prayers, feasts, and charitable acts.
AASU’s message also reinforced its dedication to advocating for student rights and welfare across Africa.
“We remain committed to advocacy for youth empowerment in the continent as agents of positive change, capable of shaping a brighter future for our continent and the world at large,” HE Osisiogu Osikenyi E. remarked.
As Eid al-Adha festivities continue, AASU’s call for unity and sacrifices serves as a timely reminder of the values that can lead to a more harmonious and prosperous future for all.
