PDP’s South-South Chair Dan Orbih Suspended Amid Edo Election Controversy
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken decisive action against its National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Dan Orbih, suspending him from all party activities pending an investigation into his controversial actions and utterances surrounding the upcoming Edo State Governorship election.
At its 588th meeting, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) unanimously condemned Orbih’s behavior, deeming it inconsistent with the party’s constitution and the demands of his office.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement explained that a six-member committee, headed by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, has been established to probe the matter.
He noted that the NWC’s swift action comes as a show of support for the party’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and the people of Edo State, who are rallying behind the PDP’s vision for continued development.
The party has urged its leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united and focused on securing victory in the September 21 election.
The development highlights the PDP’s commitment to upholding discipline and adhering to its constitutional principles.
By taking a strong stance against internal dissent, the party demonstrates its determination to present a united front in the upcoming election.
