Veteran Broadcaster Saulawa’s Passing A Great Loss to Nigeria’s Media Industry – QS Mannir Yakubu
The Nigerian media industry has been dealt a significant blow with the passing of veteran broadcaster, Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Saulawa, who died on Sunday at the age of 80 after a brief illness. The news of his demise has attracted tributes from far and wide.
Former Katsina State Deputy Governor, QS Mannir Yakubu, has described Saulawa’s death as a “great loss” to the nation’s media industry. In a message of condolences, Yakubu hailed Saulawa as an “icon journalist” who made immense contributions to the development of the country through his wealth of experience in journalism.
Yakubu prayed to Allah to forgive Saulawa’s shortcomings and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He also called on young and upcoming journalists to emulate Saulawa’s exemplary work ethic and adherence to the rules and ethics of journalism.
Saulawa’s remarkable career spanned several decades, during which he established himself as a respected and accomplished broadcaster.
His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the principles of journalism earned him widespread recognition and admiration.
The late broadcaster is survived by three wives, 13 children, and numerous grandchildren.
He was laid to rest at the Bashama Road Cemetery in accordance with Islamic rites.,
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Musa Kallah, noted that as the media industry mourns the loss of this legendary figure, his legacy continues to inspire and motivate a new generation of journalists.
He added the Saulawa’s contributions to the development of Nigerian journalism will never be forgotten, and his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his illustrious career.
