In a bold move to tackle the growing insecurity in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA), the royal fathers of the region have joined forces to establish a security committee.
The committee’s primary objective is to raise funds to support vigilante groups in the LGA, thereby bolstering security measures.
The decision was made during an inaugural meeting of the council at Obu Nsukka, Nsukka LGA, Enugu State. The royal fathers, united in their quest for peace and security, agreed to work together to address the pressing issue.
His Royal Highness (HRH), Igwe Fidelis Eze, Onyishi Agaba-Idu 17 of Abbi Ancient Kingdom and Chairman of the royal fathers, praised his colleagues for their commitment to fighting insecurity. He expressed optimism that their collective efforts would yield positive results.
HRH, Igwe Dr. Herbert Nwanosike Ukuta, JP, the Agbalakata 111 of Iggah kingdom and 3rd Deputy Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council, commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his infrastructure development initiatives in the state.
Igwe Ukuta, also Chairman, Enugu North Zonal Traditional Rulers’ Council (ENZTRC), acknowledged the contributions of various individuals who supported the building of Obu Nsukka, including HRH, Igwe Raphael Simon Ngwu (RSN) Eze, former Chairman, ENZTRC, and HRH, Igwe Dr. Osisi Itodo, Eze-Oha 1 of Essodo, Patron of ENZTRC.
HRH, Igwe Vincent Onunze (Agujiegbe), expressed concern over the mistreatment of traditional rulers in the South East, particularly in Enugu State, by past governments. He emphasized the need for greater respect and support for traditional institutions.
The royal fathers’ initiative is a significant step towards addressing the security challenges facing Uzo-Uwani LGA. By working together and supporting vigilante groups, they aim to create a safer environment for their communities.
