The National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, has congratulated Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-El Maulud, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In a press release, Hon. Maifata described the event as the foundation of faith and a core instrument of salvation, urging Muslims to maximize the opportunity to pray for the masses, especially those most vulnerable to hunger, insecurity, social disconnect, and poor healthcare.
“Eid-El Maulud is a significant occasion for Muslims to reflect on the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and strive for a better society,” Hon. Maifata said. “I encourage Muslims to use this opportunity to pray for the less privileged and work towards creating a more just and equitable society.”
Hon. Maifata emphasized that virile Local Governments are the linchpin to sustainable development, assuring that ALGON is intensifying efforts to meet expectations and drive grassroots development that benefits all Nigerians.
“With the recent attention given to Local Governments and Area Councils, much is expected from us,” Hon. Maifata noted. “ALGON is committed to living up to those expectations and ensuring that our people feel the impact of grassroots development.”
The ALGON National President also called for peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationships among all faiths, encouraging Nigerians to embrace the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during challenging times.
“As we celebrate Eid-El Maulud, let us remember the importance of unity, love, and compassion,” Hon. Maifata said. “Let us work together to build a better Nigeria for all, regardless of faith or background.”
The Eid-El Maulud celebration is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and serving as a reminder of his teachings of peace, love, and compassion.
