In a significant move to bolster the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chances in the upcoming Local Government Area (LGA) elections, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, a former gubernatorial aspirant and PDP candidate for Illorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, has made a substantial donation to the party’s state executive committee.

The donation, transferred to the state Chairman’s account, will be disbursed to all PDP candidates contesting the election, from chairmanship to councilorship positions, across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. This move is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the party’s campaign efforts.

Ajia, through his Director of Communications, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, urged the State Working Committee and party supporters to maintain confidence and redouble their efforts to ensure a convincing victory in the upcoming elections. “It is evident that we have the numbers and supporters at the grassroots. What we lacked was the commitment and sacrifice needed on election day, which was easily the reason we lost in the two previous elections,” Ajia stated.

Confident in the party’s prospects, Ajia emphasized the importance of renewed commitment, saying, “With renewed commitment, the party will emerge victorious.” He also encouraged party faithful to abide by electoral laws and ensure proper documentation of events before, during, and after the election.

This development comes as the Kwara PDP has expressed readiness to participate in the LGA polls ¹. The party had previously met with the State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) to reaffirm its commitment to the electoral process.

Ajia’s donation is seen as a timely intervention, poised to energize the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts. With the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) having selected its candidates for the chairmanship and councillorship elections, the Kwara PDP is gearing up for a fierce contest.
