How Labour Party Under Julius Abure Took N25 Million For N15 Million Form From Me, Ex-Governorship Candidate Reveals

Spread the love

A former governorship candidate of the Labour Party has made a shocking revelation about the party’s nomination process, alleging that the party collected N25 million from him for a form that was supposed to cost N15 million. This startling accusation has raised questions about the party’s integrity and transparency under the leadership of Barr Julius Abure as National Chairman.

According to the former candidate, the party’s national chairman, Abure, was aware of the transaction.

The candidate claimed that he was asked to pay the additional N10 million, which he reluctantly did to avoid being disqualified from the race. This demand for extra payment has left many wondering if the party is truly committed to its ideals of fairness and justice.

The former candidate described the Labour Party as a “rotten system” that they claim to be fighting. He expressed disappointment and frustration with the party’s actions, stating that he had expected more from the party. This sentiment is likely shared by many who had hoped that the Labour Party would offer a fresh alternative to the traditional politics of Nigeria.

Udengs Eradiri, the Labour Party candidate in the last Bayelsa State governorship election, who made the revelation in an interview with PUNCH said, “I thought that Nigerians truly meant this their so-called cry of bad leadership, that we need good governance and all that. It’s just a farce.

“Nigerians are not serious. They are just looking for who will give them money”, he lamented.

Speaking on his frustrations during the campaign, he highlighted that money, rather than genuine leadership, determined electoral outcomes.

“On Election Day, they were after money. They were looking for who will bring money. I know what I went through from primaries to winning my election in the party to the demands here and there. But, I didn’t have that kind of money, I couldn’t afford it.

“And on Election Day, they had already negotiated with the system and collected money; people were even fighting over money they took from selling me. In my village, money was deployed in millions.

“It was ‘see and buy.’ The election was a disgrace. INEC sending emissaries; they had agents that were around politicians – ‘you bring this, we do it this way”, Eradiri said.

The allegation has sparked outrage among party members and supporters, with many calling for an investigation into the matter. Some have questioned how a party that claims to be fighting against corruption and injustice can engage in such practices.

Others have expressed concern that this incident may be just the tip of the iceberg, and that there may be more widespread corruption within the party.

The Labour Party has yet to respond to the allegations, but the controversy is likely to damage the party’s reputation and credibility.

As the party seeks to establish itself as a major force in Nigerian politics, incidents like this can only serve to undermine its efforts.

The party’s leadership will need to take swift and decisive action to address these allegations and restore trust among its members and supporters.
