BENDE, ABIA STATE — Stakeholders of the Labour Party in Bende Federal Constituency have rallied behind the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, declaring that his emergence offers the constituency an opportunity to secure quality, accountable and people-oriented representation.
The stakeholders, who spoke during a town hall meeting in Bende on Tuesday, said the constituency needed a representative with the capacity, experience and commitment to attract meaningful development and effectively represent the interests of the people at the National Assembly.
They cited Anyaso’s background in business, philanthropy and community interventions as part of the factors motivating their support for his candidacy.
A senior Labour Party chieftain at the meeting said Bende needed leadership that could translate political representation into tangible opportunities for its people.
“Dr. Chima Anyaso represents the kind of leadership Bende has been waiting for. His commitment to job creation, infrastructure and inclusive development aligns with what the Labour Party stands for. In 2027, Bende will choose competence over rhetoric,” the chieftain said.
The stakeholders said their proposed development agenda for the constituency would focus on strengthening access to quality healthcare and education, supporting small and medium-scale businesses and agriculture, improving rural roads and electricity supply, while promoting transparency and accountability in the implementation of constituency projects.
They further pointed to Anyaso’s reported interventions in education, youth empowerment and healthcare as evidence of his longstanding engagement with communities.
The stakeholders argued that such interventions could provide a foundation for a broader development agenda if backed by effective legislative representation.
“We are not promising politics as usual. Labour Party will offer quality representation for the people of Bende. That means a voice that listens first, delivers second and accounts to the people at all times,” the statement said.
The declaration comes amid growing political activity around the Bende Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. Anyaso has already formally launched his campaign, with his platform centred on service, accountability, inclusive development and grassroots engagement.
He has also publicly framed his aspiration as an effort to redefine political leadership in Bende, arguing that public office should be treated as an opportunity to serve rather than a means of livelihood.
The Labour stakeholders therefore called for unity among party members, community leaders, youths, women and other critical stakeholders across Bende, urging them to commence early mobilisation ahead of the election.
They expressed confidence that a united political structure around Anyaso would strengthen the Labour Party’s chances of securing the Bende Federal Constituency seat in 2027.
Dr. Anyaso is expected to unveil further details of his legislative agenda in the coming months as his campaign intensifies across the constituency.
