The National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon Engr Bello Lawal Yandaki, has described the coincidence of Ramadan and Lent as a symbol of interfaith harmony, bringing Nigerians together to promote unity and understanding.

In his goodwill message, Yandaki emphasized the importance of spiritual reawakening and steadfastness to the love of all, citing it as an everlasting ingredient for progress across both religions.

“As we observe these sacred periods, let us draw inspiration from our shared values of compassion, kindness, and resilience,” Yandaki said. “Our devotion is a testament to the power of faith and community. May our collective spirit of hope, love, and unity be a beacon of light in these challenging times.”

Yandaki extended his warmest greetings to Muslim brothers, sisters, families, and friends, wishing them a blessed Ramadan. “May this sacred period be a time of spiritual rejuvenation, introspection, and devotion to Allah (SWT),” he said.

To the Christian community, Yandaki offered a special message: “As you embark on the Lenten journey, may you find strength in the teachings of Jesus Christ, who showed us the path of love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. May this period of reflection and spiritual growth bring you closer to your faith and to your fellow humans.”

Yandaki concluded by emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity among Nigerians, regardless of their religious affiliations. “Let us continue to uplift and support each other, even as we observe our different faith traditions. Don’t forget that we all have one market, one filling station, one hospital devoid of tags or segregation.

The economic challenge does not know a Christian or a Muslim. Our concern should be geared towards a progressive nation without dichotomy or prejudices. May our diversity be a source of strength, and may our shared humanity be the foundation of our unity.”
