In a startling revelation, international investigative journalist Jackson Ude has alleged that over $500 million in raw cash is stored in five houses belonging to Senate President Godswill Akpabio. According to an aide of the Senate President, the cash is spread across three houses in Abuja and two in Akwa Ibom State.

The funds are reportedly kickbacks from assisting government ministries and agencies in inflating their annual budgets.

These ministries and agencies are perceived as notorious for padding their budgets and using lawmakers to get them passed into law.

According to the journalist, insiders have confirmed that thorough searches of the three houses in Abuja—located at 22 Yedseram Street, Maitama; 13 T Y Danjuma Street, Asokoro; and 53 Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro—along with two houses in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, would reveal the cash.Investigative Journalist Alleges of Over $500 Million Cash in Senate President Akpabio's Five Houses

Security operatives were urged to secure these properties and conduct searches to recover the funds before they are moved.

A staff member of the Senate President was quoted by Ude as saying, “I know how many times we have moved cash to those houses from Bureau De Change and other places in several boxes and bags. His wife supervises the cash movements to the houses in Abuja and Akwa Ibom. The annoying part is that we don’t get anything from them once we do those jobs.”

Insiders suggested that Akpabio is amassing cash in preparation for a potential presidential run in 2027, should President Bola Ahmed Tinubu be unable to continue due to health reasons.
