In a significant move to strengthen the education sector, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the recruitment of 1,800 teaching and non-teaching staff for public schools across the state. This initiative aims to address staffing gaps caused by retirements, resignations, and other workforce challenges.
The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, in Ado Ekiti. He emphasized that the recruitment is part of a continuous effort to ensure the smooth functioning of the education system. With approximately 170 teaching staff expected to leave the service by year-end, the state government is taking proactive measures to prevent shortages.
The breakdown of the recruitment includes 1,600 teaching positions, comprising 1,066 degree holders and 534 National Certificate of Education (NCE) holders. Additionally, 200 non-teaching staff will be hired. Successful candidates will be deployed to 192 public secondary schools, with a focus on underserved and remote areas.
Olatunbosun assured the public that the recruitment process would be strictly merit-based, ensuring that only qualified individuals are selected to contribute to the state’s educational development.
