The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, demonstrated his deep commitment to the people and cultural heritage of the state by attending the Ovia Osese festival of the Ogori people at Ogori-Mangogo on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The festival, a vibrant celebration of the Ogori culture, drew large crowds and featured traditional dances, music, and other cultural displays.
The Governor eulogized the people of Ogori and their unique Culture.
In his words “It is with immense pride and deep appreciation that I stand here today as a Special Guest of Honour for the celebration of Ovia Osese festival right here in the Cultural rich of the Ogori-mangogo Local Government Area. The celebration is not just a celebration of culture but a celebration of Identity and of sacred bonds between generations.
Ovia Osese festival is one of the most historic and symbolic Cultural Festivals in the State ” he said.
Governor Ododo charged the people of Ogori to embrace peace and unity at all levels in order to justify their gathering together.
In a statement according to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Hon. Acharu Okpanachi, the importance of culture in promoting unity, peace, and economic development cannot be overstated.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting the festival and promoting cultural diversity in Kogi State. She encouraged well-meaning individuals to preserve and promote their cultural heritage, noting that “the festival has transformed Ogori’s Ovia Osese into a tourist haven”
The celebration was marked by an array of beauty, euphoria, and joy, demonstrating the significance of cultural events in fostering community cohesion and development.
By participating in the Ovia Osese festival, Governor Ododo showcased his passion for promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage and his dedication to the people of Kogi State.
