The 2025 Enugu Tech Festival has exploded onto Nigeria’s technology scene, with Communications and Digital Economy Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani calling it “the biggest technology conference Nigeria has ever seen.”
Thousands of young innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts flooded Enugu on Wednesday as Governor Peter Mbah’s administration unveiled the ambitious event, designed to transform the state from its coal-era past into a powerhouse of digital innovation.
“I have never been to a tech conference this big in Nigeria — and I founded the first tech hub here,” Dr. Tijani declared, calling the festival a defining moment for Nigeria’s digital future. “This is no longer just about Abuja; it’s about co-creation across all Nigerian states. Enugu is showing the way.”

Governor Mbah, addressing the crowd, underscored his government’s mission to empower youth with the tools and mindset to dominate the future workplace. “The future belongs to technology. Just look at how platforms like Uber, Airbnb, and Tesla reshaped their industries without owning a single car or building. That’s the power of innovation,” Mbah said.
The festival, tagged “Coal to Code,” marks a dramatic shift for Enugu, once defined by its coal deposits, now rapidly emerging as a hub of tech talent, digital enterprise, and intellectual capital.
Innovation Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Ezeh described the event as the beginning of an annual tradition and a symbol of the state’s bold leap into a tech-powered future.
Top figures at the event included Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande, Speaker of the Enugu State Assembly Hon. Uchenna Ugwu, former Science and Technology Minister Prof. Barth Nnaji, Zinox Chairman Leo Stan Ejeh, and Afrinvest’s Dr. Ike Chioke, among others.
Minister Tijani closed with a rallying cry: “Progress needs us all — government, private sector, mentors, builders, teachers, leaders. Together, we can create the kind of Nigeria the world will pay attention to.”
