Kwara Govt Donates Modern Ultrasound Equipment to KWASUTH to Boost Healthcare Delivery

In a move to further strengthen the healthcare delivery system in Kwara State, the State Government has donated a state-of-the-art ultrasound scanning machine and solar-powered accessories to the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), Ilorin.
The equipment, capable of operating 24 hours a day, was formally presented during a brief ceremony at the hospital premises, aimed at improving diagnostic efficiency and expanding access to quality healthcare services across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bola Ahmed, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Council, Dr. Idowu Ogunlaja, described the gesture as “another landmark achievement” by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He emphasized that the donation would go a long way in enhancing affordable and qualitative health services for residents of Kwara and its environs.

“This is a demonstration of the government’s unwavering commitment to building a functional health system in the state. The provision of this equipment will greatly improve patient outcomes and reduce delays in diagnosis,” Dr. Ogunlaja said.
He further expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq for his consistent investment in the state’s health infrastructure, adding that the equipment would be put to good use for the benefit of the people.
The newly donated medical items include an advanced ultrasound scanning machine, high-efficiency solar panels, and related accessories designed to support round-the-clock operations regardless of electricity supply challenges.
Present at the handover ceremony were the Hospital Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Aliyu; the representative of the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam; Store Officer, Mrs. Abdullah Fatimoh; Mr. Karim Babatunde; and several other staff of the hospital.
The hospital’s management reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the equipment and ensuring it contributes meaningfully to service delivery at KWASUTH.
The donation forms part of the AbdulRazaq-led administration’s broader health sector reforms aimed at enhancing primary and tertiary healthcare access, workforce training, and infrastructure development across the state.
