“A New Dawn for Orlu”: Chief Marcel Ezenwa Pledges Unity, Development as He Assumes Leadership in Abuja

The Orlu Zonal Progressive Union, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Chapter, has entered a new era of leadership following the peaceful and transparent election held on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The election marked the end of Engr. O.A. Anumiri’s tenure and ushered in a newly elected Executive Committee led by Chief Marcel Ezenwa, who hails from the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Orlu Senatorial Zone.
Speaking in a telephone interview with journalists moments after his inauguration, Chief Ezenwa was emphatic that his election represents a turning point for the Orlu community both in Abuja and back home in Imo State.
“I can assure you that my election as the President-General of the Orlu Zonal Progressive Union Abuja marks a new dawn for our union and for the entire Orlu people here in the Federal Capital Territory and back home in Imo State,” he said. “This mandate is not mine alone; it is a collective call to service, a responsibility to advance the unity, peace, and development of our people.”
The newly elected President-General repeatedly stressed the need for unity among Orlu indigenes, urging them to rally together irrespective of personal or political differences. “I urge all sons and daughters of Orlu, both in Abuja and at home, to come together in unity,” he appealed.
“Our progress as a people can only be achieved when we stand as one, setting aside differences and focusing on the greater good of our community. Together, we can unlock the full potential of Orlu and make speedy progress in every area that affects our lives,” he stressed.
Chief Ezenwa further underscored his commitment to building partnerships with both political leaders and traditional institutions. “The new executive under my leadership is fully committed and ready to work with the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, in driving initiatives that will foster development and uplift the standard of living of our people,” he affirmed.
“We also encourage our representatives at the National Assembly to close ranks, unite with all stakeholders, and channel their efforts towards the empowerment and advancement of the good people of Orlu zone as my administration will work with all our federal lawmakers.
“We will also work with the traditional institutions in the state for the development and progress of the people of Orlu zone in particular and Imo State in general,”he further affirmed.
Looking ahead, the new President-General declared that his administration would be defined by inclusivity, purposeful leadership, and concrete results. “This is a time for collaboration with every stakeholder, a time for vision, and a time for action,” he concluded. “With unity, commitment, and purposeful leadership, we will build a stronger Orlu, a more prosperous community, and a brighter future for generations to come.”
With these words, Chief Marcel Ezenwa set the tone for his leadership, positioning the new executive of the Orlu Zonal Progressive Union Abuja as a vehicle for collective progress and a beacon of hope for Orlu indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
