The Federal Ministry of Steel Development has reassured the public regarding the future of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, emphasizing the government’s full commitment to its revitalization.
In a recent statement, the Ministry confirmed that a comprehensive technical and financial audit of the plant is currently underway. This audit is aimed at ensuring transparency and providing the necessary data to guide future decisions for the plant’s development.
A 2018 audit had found the Ajaokuta Steel plant to be in good condition overall, with only minor issues, such as the need for upgrades to the manual control systems.
The Ministry expressed confidence that the ongoing audit will provide crucial insights and a solid foundation for further actions that will contribute to Nigeria’s industrial and infrastructural growth.
The Ministry reiterated that the Federal Government’s long-term goal is to build a competitive and modern steel industry, which will play a key role in advancing the country’s industrialization and infrastructure projects.
