The North Central leadership of the Obidient Movement has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups allegedly threatening or attacking the person of its principal, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, declaring that any further aggression would no longer be met with silence.
Addressing journalists at a press conference held on March 4, 2026, at the Obidient National Headquarters in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the group said it had taken time to investigate recent developments, particularly incidents that reportedly occurred in Edo State, before speaking publicly.
The movement stated that it had gathered what it described as “knowledge and intelligence” concerning the alleged attack, those behind it, and possible next moves, stressing that its initial silence should not be mistaken for weakness.
“As you must have known what the subject matter is, we did not rush out with a statement immediately,” the group said. “But we now sound this note of warning to those who have taken it upon themselves to provoke the peace-loving millions of Obidient Movement members worldwide by threatening or attacking the person of our principal, His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.”
The group urged those allegedly involved to “have a rethink and save Nigeria from the unimaginable consequences of their wicked and callous actions.”
Referencing the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Gregory Obi, the movement maintained that no individual or group holds a monopoly on violence.
“It is a well-known fact that no person or group of persons has a monopoly on rascality and violence,” the statement read. “We are not political thugs or motor park touts; we are men and women of great means, upwardly mobile, and with a great sense of responsibility.”
While reaffirming its commitment to peaceful engagement, the group warned that continued intimidation would attract consequences.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. We have decided to stop the rape of our country by conscienceless and wicked individuals masquerading as leaders by every peaceful means possible. But if and when we are pushed to the wall, we can assure those doing the pushing that we will not look for a way of escape.”
The North Central Obidient bloc further alleged that it was aware of those behind the threats, including their “paymasters” and hiding places, asserting that any further attacks would not be treated with silence.
Drawing a parallel with former United States President Donald Trump, the group claimed that just as Trump survived attacks during his campaigns and went on to win the presidential election, so too would Obi prevail.
“Be it known to you all wishing PO death that just as Trump survived every attack during his campaigns and went ahead to win the presidential election with an unprecedented landslide victory, so shall Peter Gregory Obi outlive all of you and go ahead to win the 2027 presidential election with a landslide victory,” the statement declared.
The movement insisted that Obi’s political mission was divinely ordained and unstoppable.
“It is God that rules in the affairs of men. Those who think they can use their present positions in power to intimidate, oppress or silence the opposition must have a rethink because it will never work for them this time.”
Reaffirming its ideological commitment, the group said it strongly believed in the “personality, credibility and ideology” of Obi and would continue to stand by him until its “New Nigeria mission” is accomplished.
“The vision is clear and the mission is settled. A New Nigeria is Possible,” the statement concluded. “God bless the Obidient Movement. God bless Mr. Peter Obi. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The press conference ended with a rallying call: “Arise and shine Nigeria, for a New Nigeria is POssible.”
