Tragedy Strikes at Hajj: Nigerian Pilgrims’ Death Toll Rises Amidst Sacred Journey

In a solemn turn of events, the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage has been marred by a series of tragedies affecting Nigerian pilgrims. The National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has reported that 14 Nigerian pilgrims have lost their lives in Saudi Arabia during this year’s spiritual journey.

The latest incident involved a pilgrim from Kebbi State, whose passing was confirmed by the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

This unfortunate news comes amidst the sacred circling of the Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam, by masses of pilgrims preparing for the official start of the Hajj.

In response to the increasing death toll, NAHCON Chairman, Mallam Jalal Arabi, announced plans to reduce the length of stay for Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, aiming to safeguard their well-being.

The commission has expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and has called for prayers for the departed souls.

The loss of life during such a significant religious observance is a profound sorrow for the entire Nigerian community.

As pilgrims continue to gather in Mecca, the focus is on providing support to those affected and ensuring the safety of all attendees.

The pilgrimage, which draws millions of Muslims from around the world, is a time for reflection and devotion, and the Nigerian community is united in mourning and solidarity during this challenging period.
