Corps Member Executes N3m Project

A corps member serving with the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Miss Jalila Ahmad, has constructed a labour room, two office blocks for family planning and antenatal at the Primary Health Care Centre in Jikwoyi, Abuja, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Ahmad, at the inauguration, said the project cost her three million naira.

She said that she sourced the fund from Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOS) and other good spirited personalities in the society.

Ahmad, who graduated from University Houston in US with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology, added that she constructed modern toilet, repaired borehole, erected signposts and
also provided refuse bins, among others.

According to her, the projects form part of her Community Development Projects.

“No cause is closer to my heart than helping the underprivileged especially mothers and babies’’, she said.

The corps member said she was motivated to embark of the projects due to the poor sanitation of the environment and the need to give the centre facelift.

Ahmad called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist the government in providing basic amenities for the less-privileged to ensure a
healthy living.

The projects were received by Mrs Josephine Nnodim, the Supervisory Councilor for Health in the area.

She commended the corps member, adding that her efforts would contribute greatly to the community health care delivery in the FCT.

She said that a committee would be constituted to ensure that all hands were on deck to manage the facilities effectively.

Hajia Hajara Hassan, the Representative of the NYSC Coordinator for FCT, also commended the corps member, describing her projects as laudable.

Hassan urged other corps members to emulate
Ahmad’s vision which she said had a direct
bearing on the masses.

Dr Anthony Orji, of AMAC’s Health Department,
said the initiator of the project had bequeathed a
befiting legacy that would enhance the lives of
mothers and children in the area.

He urged other individuals to partner with
government to enhance government’s effort in
promoting reproductive health.
