Madala Bombing: Buhari Govt Exonerates Dismissed Police Boss Accused of Aiding Boko Haram

Less than a week after the President Muhammadu Buhari administration “forgave” over 3, 000 soldiers accused of sabotaging fight against Boko Haram insurgency, another member of the Nigeria’s armed forces has been cleared after dismissal.

Over three years after Zakari Biu, a
Commissioner of Police, was
dismissed from the Force over
allegation of conniving with Boko Haram terrorists, he has been
exonerated of the charges.

Biu was exonerated by the Police Service Commission.

A statement from the head of press in
the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, said the decision to exonerate Biu was
taken at the end 13th plenary meeting of the Commission held in Abuja.

It said Biu was not culpable as was

Biu was in February 2012 accused of collaborating to effect the escape from Police custody of alleged Boko Haram
member, Kabiru Sokoto.

Sokoto was convicted on accusation of spearheading the Christmas day bombing of St. Theresa Catholic
Church in Madala, Niger State.

Over 50 persons were killed. This led to Biu’s dismissal.

The statement by Ani said: “The commission exonerated CP Biu from the issues surrounding the escape of Kabiru Sokoto, an arrested Boko Haram kingpin in Abuja.
