Protesting Members Storm APC Secretariat in Bayelsa
The entrance to Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, was on Tuesday barricaded by some protesting party faithfuls.
The party supporters were demanding that the APC State chairman, Tiwe Oruminighe, should emerge as the running mate to Chief Timipre Sylva ahead of the Bayelsa governorship election.
According to them, Tiwe is the best person for the position, insisting that he had made lots of sacrifices for the party.
The rampaging supporters had torn some posters and banners in front of the secretariat before the intervention of security personnel to avert a major break down of law and order in the state capital.
Members of the party awaits APC’s announcement of Sylva’s running mate ahead of the December 5 governorship election in the state.
The delay in naming Sylva’s running mate has raised anxiety among the party’s supporters.
