The National Publicity Secretary of he opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh this morning, January 5th was invited to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to answer questions about his alleged role in the $2billion Arms deal scandal.
Personnel of the anti graft agency arrived the Abuja residence of Mr Metuh on Tuesday morning and invited him for a chat. In a call to the opposition scribe, Metuh asked his supporters and party faithful not to bother to defend him because according to him, it is a distraction from the antics of the ruling party in the Bayelsa elections coming up on Saturday 9th of January.
Metuh maintained that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has perfected plans to rig the supplementary elections in the oil rich state, adding that party faithful should remain calm and law abiding.
As at 4pm Nigerian time, Metuh’s lawyers are yet to reach him as they have started getting frantic about his welfare. He has not called anyone and has not been reached.
The EFCC still maintains it is still a friendly chat and not an arrest as widely speculated.Â
