There was great joy and jubilation across Ndokwa East at the weekend, as the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi went round the local government area to supervise ongoing construction projects he has attracted to his people.
The projects which are sited round the wards in the local government area are blocks of six class rooms each, with toilet facilities in each of the classes and other installations fit for modern and conducive classrooms.
Speaking to news men, the Deputy Speaker said, that the purpose of any genuine representation is for the transformation of the people, emphasizing that Governor Okowa should be applauded and commended for his unflinching commitment to the transformation of Ndokwa land and Delta State in general.
In Ossisa, Ward one, where the Deputy Speaker was first received by the highly elated constituents in Umuobi, after inspecting the ongoing work in Umuobi Primary School, Ossisa; Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi commended the community for their support and the conducive atmosphere they have given the site engineers. Other places visited were: Iselegu Primary School,Iselegu and Ibrede Primary School, Ibrede.
Thanking the Deputy Speaker, the President General of Ibrede Community, Mr. Onomerike Afoke, said the community is happy and confident with the leadership of Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi and further said that the constructions were first of its kind and prayed God for long life and higher political position for the Deputy Speaker.
Addressing the leadership of the community, Osanebi said: ” we may give scholarships and pay bursaries to our students, but when the learning environment is not fit and conducive, the students might still perform poorly, irrespective of the investments in human capital development.
These classrooms are being constructed today to give our people in the communities the experience of schooling abroad with almost all the facilities found in modern classrooms. We are grateful to God and we salute our Governor for his good thought for our people and Delta State in general.
Speaking further, the Deputy Speaker revealed that the projects will be commissioned and delivered on the 1st of March, 2016. Hear him: “with our calculations and by the grace of God, the classrooms will be commissioned and handed over to the schools, on the 1st of March this year.
“Although construction work began about 2 weeks ago, and we aremonitoring and supervising the construction process closely to ensure that the jobs are delivered with specifications and on time”.
In the three sites visited yesterday, one thing was certain: the quality of job being done, has given the needed foundation for durability. It now depends on the communities and schools if the intentions of government will not defeated.
Gradually, all the wards in the local government area will be touched and already, the constructions in the three sited visited yesterday were going on simultaneously with wards 4,5 and 6 next in line.
The Deputy Speaker and his entourage later visited Chief Emmanuel Onyuku,the governing board chairman, Delta State College of Education, Agbor.
Government functionaries that made up the entourage include: Honorable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Chika Ossai, Commissioner representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Board of DESOPADEC, Mr. Nnamdi Ezechi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Mr. Alex Aniche and other top government functionaries.
