Anambra North Has The Potential To Lead The Economic Development of Anambra State – Ekwunife

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, has stated that Anambra North has the potential to lead the economic development of Anambra State. She said that no state can advance in economic development without an enabling environment to progress its economic status.

Ekwunife made the remarks while speaking to the press after the Anambra North PDP stakeholders meeting held at Otuocha, Anambra East. She observed that with the pandemic-driven collapse in global demand of crude oil, that investment in Agriculture will play a strategic role and contribute to economic prosperity.

Ekwunife who was visiting Anambra North Stakeholders for the second time since the beginning of this year stated she has noted the negligence of the zone in terms of providing infrastructure and revamping of Agricultural activities. She lauded the efforts put in by her colleague, Senator Stella Oduah in attracting the presence of the Federal Government to the zone, but however stated that more need to be done using the apparatus of the state government to support the efforts of the Lawmaker.

“Anambra North will play a key role in making our economic development a reality. We will partner with the zone in creating wealth through Agriculture from which residents will benefit, and such partnership will improve the local economy and enhance the prosperity and quality of life in the state”

“We have the master strategy to revamp the Otuocha rice mill to make the zone a leader in rice production and other agro processing industries in Anambra state and beyond thereby creating jobs, improve productivity and reduce crime”

Speaking further, the leading guber aspirant stated that the journey to the government house starts only when a winnable candidate emerges following the party primary election.

“When you get the ticket is when the journey starts, that is when the rough period begins, that is when the competition starts, that is when the entire analysis will commence, that is when the entire Nigeria will focus on Anambra state”

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, however, noted that her vision for the zone will be impossible without infrastructure.

“It is only when there is infrastructure across the zone that there will be improvement in the ease of doing businesses in markets like Main Market. We will embark on massive road construction to help open up the hinterlands and connect to urban cities”

She, however, advised the party to look out for an aspirant with the zeal, capacity and capability to do the tough Job. According to her, it’s only when you win that whatever policy or blueprint be it on industry, commerce, education, agriculture, women and youth empowerment can be executed.

Ekwunife said that having spent a better part of her life in the zone, that she understands the challenges facing the zone and have the solutions to them.

She noted that it was her trajectory of success that earned her a seat in the Senate. She highlighted her achievements – from green to red chamber- and said that it was a combination of prayer and hard work that were at work.

Concluding, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator said that she was sure that judging by her track records that she has the qualities and qualifications to drive the economic development of the state, noting that she was convinced that she is the best person for the job.
