Commissioner of Police, Benue state Police Command, CP Audu Madaki has said his command would take the fight against crime and criminality to the doorsteps of the criminals.
CP Madaki who stated this in Gboko when he came on a familiarization visit to Gboko Police Area Command explained that the fight against crime and criminality was not the duty of the police alone but one that require the collaborative efforts of other security agencies, Opinion and Community Leaders, trade union Leaders as well as the youth.
He noted that his command was aware of the general apprehension in Gboko occasioned what is happening in Sankera axis but assured that the police and other security agencies are carrying the fight against crime and criminality to the door steps of the criminals.
Madaki however sued for the support of traditional rulers, Opinion and community Leaders as well as youths by volunteering credible information to the police to enable them nib in the bud crime and criminality in the state.
He added that the present hierachy of the Police Force places special attention on community policing stressing that Sankera, Otukpo and Otukpa axis of the state would be given special attention even as he pledged to work for the good of all.
Madaki who warned against the use of jungle justice advised youths to always lodge their complaints to the Police who he said, would treat it with utmost confidentiality.
He added that his command would also embark on redistribution of personnel to areas of need where Gboko would receive topmost priority.
In his remarks, the executive Chairman, Gboko Local Government Council, Hon. James Kachina had informed that the people of Gboko were jittery because of the likely infiltration of bad elements into Gboko from the Sankera axis and called on security agencies and the people to be alert.
The Gboko Council helmsman stated that Council had already resolved to register all private and commercial motorcycles in Gboko with a special code to distinguish them from other vehicles coming into Gboko from elsewhere among other security measures.
Other speakers in the area including The Ter Gboko, HRH, Gabriel Shoshum who spoke through Chief Bem Gbà korun, Chief Akpam Abeke and BEMOA branch 1 Chairman, Aondoaver Asue in their separate remarks had expressed concern over inadequate Police personnel, poor vehicles and lack of confidentiality in the police force, a development they said, was hampering the effective discharge of their duties and called for a redress.
