ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Peter Agada Presidential Campaign Organization has presented Arc. Dr. Peter Adole Agada as a long-standing public policy advocate whose ideas on infrastructure, security and socio-economic development have influenced national discourse for more than two decades.
In a statement issued by its Communication Directorate, the campaign said Agada’s decision to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) was driven by his determination to personally implement what it described as comprehensive development blueprints he had previously submitted to successive Nigerian administrations.
According to the statement, Agada has, over the years, developed policy proposals covering infrastructure, national security, economic transformation and governance reforms, many of which were presented to different federal governments.
The campaign recalled that in 2016, Agada participated in a presidential innovation programme where he presented a paper on Command, Control, Computer, Communication, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), a technology-driven security architecture designed to strengthen Nigeria’s border protection, military intelligence, highway monitoring, rural surveillance and command-and-control communications.
It disclosed that the proposal ranked among the leading innovative projects selected for government support following presentations before former President Muhammadu Buhari and technology stakeholders.
The organization, however, alleged that several of Agada’s development proposals were either abandoned or improperly implemented by public institutions, preventing the country from benefiting fully from the initiatives.
The campaign also highlighted Agada’s political and professional engagements, noting that he served as Director of Finance of the Obidient Movement during the 2023 general elections and was later appointed Minister of Infrastructure in the Big Tent Shadow Government established in 2025 under the leadership of Professor Pat Utomi.
It further credited Agada with originating the “consumption to production infrastructure” governance philosophy, which it described as the foundation of his Labour-Direct development model aimed at repositioning Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a productive industrial nation.
According to the statement, Agada initially sought the Labour Party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections but was denied participation in the party’s presidential primary after what the campaign described as a last-minute zoning decision despite having fulfilled all qualification requirements.
The campaign alleged that the development came after Agada had invested more than ₦300 million in preparations for the contest, prompting his eventual decision to seek the presidential ticket of the Young Progressives Party.
The organization argued that Agada’s political philosophy aligns closely with the YPP’s emphasis on youth participation, social welfare and inclusive governance, describing the party as a natural platform for advancing his Labour-Direct governance ideology.
It maintained that Agada’s vision also reflects the pro-labour ideals traditionally associated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), of which it said he is a member.
The statement further revisited Agada’s presentation of the “Nigeria Integrated Infrastructure Development Plan” and “Agro-Industrial Tech Park,” also described as “Consumption to Production Parks,” before the Federal Government during a presidential policy session held in Abuja in February 2007.
According to the campaign, the presentation outlined an integrated national development strategy covering infrastructure, industrialisation and economic transformation, and attracted positive reactions from government officials present at the event.
The organization said archival footage from the presentation, obtained from the Presidential Library, demonstrates what it described as widespread appreciation of Agada’s policy proposals by senior government officials at the time.
It urged Nigerians to review the archived presentation and assess the relevance of the development blueprint to the country’s current socio-economic challenges.
The Peter Agada Presidential Campaign Organization concluded by calling on Nigerians to support the YPP presidential candidate in the 2027 general election, expressing confidence that his Labour-Direct governance philosophy offers practical solutions to the nation’s infrastructure, security and economic development needs.
