Seven serving senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have been retired compulsorily.
The affected officers, The Street Reporters Newspaper gathered, were Assistant Controller Generals (ACGs).
Their retirement, seen as ‘arbitrarily’, by the affected officers was approved by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB).
Their voluntary retirement took effect from 9 June 2021.
The retirement letter signed by one Mrs Aisha A. Rufai of the CDCFIB reads: “In view of the convention on seniority in the military and paramilitary services in respect to the newly appointed Controller-General, and in addition to other antecedents, you are hereby advised to proceed on voluntary retirement from the service with effect from 9th June 2021.”
