A pro-Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu group under the aegis of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), on Friday, protested against any form of consensus arrangement for the selection of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Speaking in Abuja after purchasing the APC presidential form for Tinubu, Chairman of SWAGA, Senator Dayo Adeyeye said all aspirants must be allowed to test their popularity at the party’s primaries.
Former Governor of Lagos State who was also a Senator, Ahmed Tinubu, is among many aspirants seeking to contest in the APC’s 2023 presidential election primary.
Other candidates include the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Yahaya Bello, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, among others.
SWAGA was officially launched in October while Tinubu himself was recuperating in the United Kingdom.
The APC had during it last national convention produced national officers of the party through consensus and Tinubu camp fears that the party’s presidential candidate would emerge through the same mode.
