PRESS RELEASE: No Consensus Candidate Yet for Yoruba Presidency, Consultation Still Ongoing Among Yoruba Political Leaders – Grand Council of Yoruba Youths
Our attention has just been drawn to the viral posts of different versions claiming that One or the Other among the leading Yoruba Presidential Aspirants has been adopted by the ongoing meeting of the Southwest Political Leaders, which was convened by our erudite Yoruba Elder and 2 term former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and started yesterday’s evening and up till this morning, it was still ongoing.
With all sincerity, this is far from being true and we strongly believe that the outcome of the ongoing meeting/consultation will produce a generally acceptable personality among the Presidential Aspirants as a Consensus Candidate for Yorubaland.
Regardless of the choice of former 2 – term Vice President, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, by the main Opposition Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and the Northern Governors’ Forum have shown their sympathy towards the Southern Presidency which this Platform and several others across the Nation have been advocating for since June 2019, just for fair play, promotion of Peace, Unity and Progress among various ethnic Nationalities in Nigeria and to honour the gentleman agreement, Rotational Presidency, that exits in the polity. This is the beauty of democracy and the trait of Omoluabi.
We are in deed so grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and the Northern Governors’ Forum, for being sincere to their Creator, God Almighty and their fatherland, Nigeria and we are assuring them that their efforts won’t be in vain.
We therefore urge every Patriotic individuals to sit back with comfort and continue praying to God Almighty to guide those Political Leaders involved in the process.
“Together, we shall make this Nation, A BETTER NIGERIA”.
