The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential aspirant in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo has affirmed that there’s a need to understand what’s wrong with Nigeria as a country, why Nigeria is at crossroad and this according to him takes leadership to enter the mind of the people with a fresh ideas because the culture from which this leadership arises has over the years produced leaders who are unsatisfactory, difficult and unhelpful to the many man made problems which has over this past years bedeviling the Nation progress and development.

The SDP Presidential aspirant made this known at his residence in Abuja while interacting with journalists drawn from the print and broadcast media on his road map and what he have in Stock for Nigerians if elected as president comes 2023 General Elections under the social Democrats Party, (SDP).

He said Nigeria need to borrow a leaf from some of the way others countries had done it which he noted start with Nigerians changing their minds if not, things will continue the same ways it has been done before.

He maintained that despite the series of change of parties, defections here and there by the so called hungry politicians and of course change of leadership has not changed our situation as a country.

“The problem with our leadership is that we have enable a culture where by public service is not understood by us and if you look around you see that there’s five categories of people who are in leadership institutions and who are handling the country” some are there because they are put there by opportunity and after taken the office he or she realizes that this office is really lucrative and the vicous circle of corruption continues from point to the the other.

“The second category of people are those who came in to the public office by accident, in fact someone wrote: the accidental civil servant.

“Some are there because of envy, using their various offices witch-hunting one another at the detriment of the poor masses, the fourth are those inheritance from the military changing to civilians to also join in the vicous circle of corruption and hang power around themselves and last category of the people are the visionary peoples but they approach politics from a narrow point of view, their politics is complex with religious, ethnic perspectives and the belief attachment to the effect”

He lamented that the genuine people who are interested in leadership have come to realize that what good leadership requires is not what our politics requires and there’s a need for us to reconcile between our politics and our leadership because politicis is the pathway to become a leader.

“By the time you go through the crucible of Nigeria politics, if you have forty percent qualities of leadership in you, you go to almost zero percent because the quality we teaches you things that a good leaders should not do, how to bribe people and others heinous acts.

“So, there’s a need to clean our politics a bit so that people who are potentially good leaders when they go through the crucible of our politics they would become actually good leaders.

“It takes leadership to do a Reconciliation of what we need and what we have, that’s why Nigerians are suffering.”

On Issues of party executives, he said in his encounter when he started politics he found out that the greatest bandits and armed robbers are the party executives who he noted mount toll gate more than police and others security officers before a contestant on the mentality of something must drop monetary or otherwise before any other things happen.

“A typical reference is what play out in the just concluded PDP Presidential Primaries in Abuja with the rumours of dollars flying in air, despite the fact that some of the contestant or rather people who had serve in different capacity as a politicians within such party are well known to the party executives but they will still need to bride their way with dollars before you can decide who becomes your leaders there.

“So, the many years of experience of knowing them and what they have done right or wrong is not relevant to the party executives because all they care about is the highest bidder and all this happens within a party structure which shows party structures will only work in your favor if you distribute the dollars”, he said.

Prince Adewole Adebayo said most of the challenges the country is going through can be solved but first one need to recognize that the challenges are there, understand and analyze it, look at your own role in it and said it has to stop.

“We must first acknowledge our challenges in Nigeria, things are not done the right way, if u want to drive a democracy, ask yourself what’s democracy, democracy suppose to be a representative system where the interest of everyone is recognized and everyone is facilitating it, which means you must be good at representing people and to fair to our history of recent we have not have a good history of representing people right, many of our so called crop of politicians does not have the culture of representing those who are not there and that’s what good governance is under a good democracy.

“It’s high time Nigerians need to vote and get in people who can represent people and representing themselves and people need to know and understand that politics is not for the politicians but for the community because it’s the community that send a politician there to go and represent them.

“So, it’s not Buhari Presidency but Nigerians’ Presidency which the president is sent to go and execute based on the alleged integrity they said Buhari has”.

When asked about his Agenda, Prince Adewole Adebayo said before he could answer such a question one need to ask why others people agenda failed or are failing.

“Before I go to my agenda, you have to find out why other people’s agenda are failing, this things about Agenda are not new to Nigerians, if you go to the chapter 2 of the Nigeria constitution you wouldn’t be asking such because it’s clearly written in the constitution that you must give social welfare to every Nigerians, so are you going to give everybody food, housing, health care , education, employment and the likes because it’s written there and it’s not a favor, you don’t tell a doctor what is your plan this sick person, it’s the duty of such doctor to make such person well.

“when any elected president or governor taken an oath of Office he or she said”.

I will abide by and implement the fundamental objectives of directives principles contained in the chapter 2 of the Nigeria constitution.

“so it’s clearly written in the oath and if elected as the next president of Nigeria I will definitely abide to it and do the needful in that regard”.

The SDP Presidential Flagbearer Prince Adewole Adebayo however said his mission for if elected as the president of Nigeria is to make putting the right people in government, people who will said this is not good and there’s a need to change it sincerely and genuinely. adding that if become a president is going to faithfully implement the chapter 2 of the Nigeria constitution which has social welfare, which means that Water, Food, Housing, Education, Healthcare and others need to be made available because the country can afford them and every citizens need to enjoy such.

He further stressed the need for economy participation and to give economy participation one need to get employment for the people and distribute the opportunity in Nigeria in such a way that is written in the constitution where the commanding high to the economy is not hundred over to minority.
