How Tinubu Snubbed, Disrespected Enugu Traditional Rulers After 6 Hours of Waiting
Some members of the Enugu Traditional rulers led by the State Chairman of the state Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo are yet to recover from their shocks after they were disrespected and insulted by visiting APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was in Enugu for campaign.
The traditional ruler who was probably too shocked to speak on the matter simply told reports to await the outcome of their meeting after deliberation on the matter.
Igwe Agubuzo said, “we will hold a meeting today, after that I will speak. It’s not a personal thing.”
However, some traditional rulers who under the condition of anonymity described the incident as not just insulting but a “total embarrassment to the entire traditional rulers and traditional institution of Enugu state. It’s regrettable.”
Another top monarch in the state said” you can’t believe it, we waited from 10:am until about 4:pm when we discovered he had gone.
“There was no respect to our position as traditional rulers, no respect to our age. No remorse at all. It was a brutal experience and show of disrespect from a Presidential candidate.
“It’s more embarrassing for the fact that we were in touch with his people and they knew we were waiting. It’s the height of insult to Enugu’s traditional institution.”
The APC presidential campaign which was held at the Okpara Square, Enugu, was marred by the recent crisis in the party which led to massive boycott by very notable leaders of the party, including the former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, former Governor Sullivan Chime, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.
Other controversies trailing the Tinubu’s visit to Enugu were protests and counter accusations of fraud in the build up to the campaign visit and a viral video of the state chairman of the party being held hostage by some of the crowd, suspected to be rented, insisting on being paid before the APC chairman could be allowed to leave the venue.
