Obnoxious Perception Of Prince Bassey Otu Of APC Is Deception Still Keeping PDP Together As A Party In Cross River
“Wonder What Gives Those Rooting For Sandy Onor Of PDP Impression That He Can Defeat One As Popular As Prince Otu Backed By An Incumbent?”
“By the way, I am going to ask those who put up the argument against the outgoing governor, Professor Ben Ayade accused of monopolistic tendencies. It is going to be followed by another pertinent question I intend to also ask those who are going about with the impression that the Prince will likely be subjected to his whims and caprices if he wins the governorship elections as his successor. However, those accusations are never substantiated because they’re mere speculations to elicit deceit for cheap blackmail. But First I would like to ask those group of backbiters to show me who the governor had subjected to undue control among his appointees, let’s start from there, who? Because that is where it all will manifest as being those under his immediate control. This is someone (Ayade) who finds it difficult to sack those he appointed even under pressure from members of the public to do so. I once wrote about that as well, but he was less unnerved. Are those alleging this, suggesting also that amongst those of his appointees, none had wronged him in any way or done things that warrant such a person to be relieved of his or her appointment? This, nonetheless, is the common practice with his predecessors in office. An example of that is the case of the former Governor of the state, Liyel Imoke who sacked the very Sandy Onor whom they now praise to the high heavens, who was then his commissioner for environment. Is that what these individuals are asserting or suggesting?”
“Again, it is logical and practically appropriate to believe that one can defeat a sitting Governor if the person is prominent and the preferred choice of the people, but it is practically impossible to defeat the same caliber of candidate who is been backed by a sitting Governor. Is a fact. That is what those in PDP in the state of Cross River failed to understand of the complimenting powers of incumbency on a popular candidate which evokes magic, rather they leave on wrong assumptions by lifting such impossible guesses to attain a position of truth which they are now forcing into the throats of their members to swallow, trying hard also to delude the multitude with such deception to keep them racy. I equally marveled over what still sustains those persons who left the All Progressives Congress, (APC) recently to embrace a fragmented version of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state, whose impression of victory, I imagine, will turn out to be a total misconception due to their misjudgment of the facts.”
“This is exactly what is happening between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River and the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

The later are trying to impose their candidate Sandy Onor who has done nothing to warrant such support from people across the three senatorial districts, except for the simple fact that as a former University lecturer, he goes about exhibiting his proficiency in speaking grammar as an intellectual, and busy acquiring numerous unrelated titles which include being a knight in the Catholic Church, same title as the outgoing Governor Ayade, all of which are unknown to politics that acknowledges but one’s character and proven competence and generosity, to the contrary, he now wants to place those of his acquired acolytes and designations before the people to be endorsed for the sake of it and not in tandem with the norms, in a contest as momentous as governorship against a very popular, desirable and formidable candidate in the race, Prince Otu, a former banker, legislator of both house of the National Assembly, philanthropist and a highly exposed person with a better composure and reach, who is generally accepted by all across the various ranges.”
There was a certain man mentioned in the Christian Bible who was blind and when he met Jesus, the one through whom the Christ consciousness was brought to humankind on earth from the Holy Ghost which operates in the void, he got completely healed of his blindness.
And that singular event made Jesus more popular among the people of that town, and the elders didn’t want to hear that, so they called the blind man aside and cautioned him not to spread or tell people about his encounter with Jesus who healed him or else he will be punished or be imprisoned for blaspheming, but he didn’t budge and continued in his innocence to spread the message of his healing by a certain fellow by the name Jesus!
During his interrogation by his accusers, the blind man looked at them sternly with bewilderment as he could not understand their indifference to human needs and for the amazing things that has happened to him and why they should ask him for God’s sake, not to rejoice in the face of such glaring good deeds from such an exceptionally Godsent human being, he wouldn’t but proclaim such great feat of the one who made him whole, and by the way, he said; for whatever it is they hold against his healer, is not his concern.
What he is saying is that yesterday, he was blind but now he can see. They should leave him alone to praise a good man.
It is usually much of what you’ve done previously to the acknowledgment of people that counts than what you claim by the display of certain unqualified character, identity, or attestation from whoever it is, that is never there to insist that you carry out exactly what the attestation given was meant to achieve.
This is exactly what is happening between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River and the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
The last is trying to impose their candidate Sandy Onor who has done nothing to warrant such support from people across the three senatorial districts, except for the simple fact that as a former University lecturer, he goes about exhibiting his proficiency in speaking grammar as an intellectual, and busy acquiring numerous unrelated titles which include being a knight in the Catholic Church, same title as the outgoing Governor Ayade, all of which are unknown to politics that acknowledges but one’s character and proven competence and generosity, to the contrary.
He now wants to place those of his acquired acolytes and designations before the people to be endorsed for the sake of it and not in tandem with the norms, in a contest as momentous as governorship against a very popular, desirable, and formidable candidate in the race, Prince Otu, a former banker, legislator of both houses of the National Assembly, philanthropist and a highly exposed person with a better composure and reach, who is generally accepted by all across the various ranges.
I do not know how to figure out such deception or what exactly is propelling the PDP candidate who has not done much to attract a larger following nor had he cultivated enough friendship that cuts across the majority of people in the state apart from a few elites, to accept his candidacy en mass on the bases of what he meant to them to boost his chances of winning and not barely on the strength of the party on which platform he is contesting, yet he is seen carrying himself with the air of one who is sure to win the governorship against a candidate like Prince Otu who has a huge following born out of what he meant to them, party aside. That’s what differentiates these two men in the contest, truth be told.
Senator Onor is appearing to be popular in the state today because he won the primaries of his party, the PDP. That’s why renowned personalities in the party like the former governor of the state, Mr. Donald Duke, and others (I doubt if Senator Imoke has now joined the drama) are coming out to campaign for him and together with most young men including some of those whom I know wouldn’t have contemplated touching him with a finger in the present circumstance, are now supporting him fully because of partisanship, and not that he meant much to them.
He sure has some qualities no doubt, and some basic attraction to justify such decisions and to confirm their sincerity but that is where it ends, especially with those supporting him from the Southern Senatorial Districts.
He is regarded by many as one who is too ambitious, having just been aided to get into the Nigeria Senate for the first time he ought to have stayed to consolidate his position first, by embarking on mass assistance of his tribesmen and communities with key projects initiated and funded to completion all by himself as a Senator, before taking another huge step such as Governorship.
But the inordinate amount of quest to attain that level of power due to the availability of funds put at his disposal by his sponsor helped to blur his rational thought, which is very unfortunate and has now become a liability of sort to him.
I hope he realizes that in the midst of the prevailing confusion eating deep into his chance, if ever there was any of sustainable values except for the lure occasioned by partisanship and the fanfare associated with it.
In the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Prince is an institution. He has followers who are with him from time because of what he meant to them, and they cut across the party lines.
You can only defeat him in a primary election if you have the type of organic following he does, not necessarily because you’re loaded with money to buy delegates.
Again, it is logical and practically appropriate to believe that one can defeat a sitting Governor if the person is prominent and is the preferred choice of the people, but it is practically impossible to defeat the same caliber of candidate who is been backed by a sitting Governor. It is a fact. That is what those in PDP in the state of Cross River failed to understand of the complimenting powers of incumbency on a popular candidate like Otu, which evokes magic, rather they leave on wrong assumptions by lifting such impossible guesses to attain a position of truth which they are now forcing into the throats of their members to swallow, trying hard also to delude the multitude with such deception to keep them racy.
I equally marveled over what still sustains those persons who left the All Progressives Congress, (APC) recently to embrace a fragmented version of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state, whose impression of victory, I imagine, will turn out to be a total misconception due to their misjudgment of the facts.
When I hear of some highly placed individuals in society giving reasons for their reluctance to support Prince Otu out of pettiness while some are stating their indifference on the bases of deception or a wrong perception in which it is said that he may become a stooge to Ben Ayade if elected Governor.
This assertion I find laughable and I consider it to be cheap blackmail to dissuade people from doing the right thing by their choice of the Otu, who is comparatively a good man, even though none is entirely good but the Lord of all creation who is our God and operates in the void as a Ghost and Holy.
Prince can not be that lukewarm to suggest that someone, whoever that person is, can unreasonably cause him to do or not do what he considers morally unjustified or that which goes contrary to his avowed pledge to further bring succor to the mileage of problems facing our people due to the general economic crunch affecting not only Nigeria but the entire world, that needs urgent and practical approach to ameliorate.
I wonder what most people think of the Prince. Is it because he doesn’t often put forward a picture of a tough man as his other opponents in the race are said to do, to suggest their toughness in taking decisions in office? Is that why some people believe he would handle things differently, compared to Caterpillar? That’s not true.
Being tough or displaying attitudes that make people fear you as is being ascribed to Sandy Onor of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) as against the friendly disposition of Prince Otu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not depict decisiveness rather it may be a function of ego, guilt, primitivity, deception, lack of exposure, a misfit, or share arrogance.
A man, on the other hand, needs to be himself always by barely putting assuring portraiture out there to allay people’s fears, doubts, or speculation of what to expect in their encounter with him.
This he does, by allowing the outcome of a confrontation to prove the exact nature of his being and character of what he is made of and not necessarily being repulsive or acting arrogantly.
Prince is amenable to situations and such an attitude helps those like him to fuse two ends of any divide to end whatever feud that may be taking place in various discords that could have ensued because of the inflexibleness of most people in politics and other phases of life. But that in no way should imply that he could be a pushover in any instance or a stooge.
By the way, I am going to ask those who put up the argument against the outgoing governor, Professor Ben Ayade accused of monopolistic tendencies.
It is going to be followed by another pertinent question I intend to also ask those who are going about with the impression that the Prince will likely be subjected to his whims and caprices if he wins the governorship elections as his successor.

Whereas, the next group of gossipers alludes conversely that the current government has been unable to curb the excesses of his junior brother, Frank Ayade, whom they accused of carrying on as a defacto governor of the state where he aughts not to. I now ask as my second question, rhetorically, why would they exhibit such irrational intuition, if indeed it is the same person known to be nonchalant and weak over the control of his junior brother, if not mischief, what will be of concern to him now, and within the circumstance after leaving office, to be awakened suddenly to become a bully, and doing so, according to them, by cultivating such unethical behaviors where he will now turn himself into an authority unknown to our Constitution, to control a whole sitting governor, is that possible?
One can see that the whole thing is a fib, they’re just making up stories of scandal. It doesn’t add up. It is all a figment of their imagination and has no bases. On the contrary, Ayade is a very considerate human being in his dealings with people. And Prince is just being civilized and in no way near being appalled by anyone and for any reason.
strangely, the governor’s consideration for the plight of those serendipitous citizens whose appointments he had been very reluctant to terminate from the inception of his administration to date, puts him out there as a very courteous human being. These appointees are still in the services of the government as commissioners.
The secretary to government is still there luckily, and the numerous SAs and PAs including heads of parastatals are there as well without the usual stand-ins to accommodate fresh hands whether or not they’re putting in their best as required is determined by the measure of their discretion, liberality, and judgment as the Governor.
That is exactly who the outgoing governor, Professor Ben Ayade, hates or loves, depending on the side he is seen as being offensive to you. He is after all, in such cases, a human being prone to make mistakes.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you all my brothers and sisters.
