The National Leadership of Concerned Deltans For Good Governance Network, also known as the Voice of Delta, one of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accredited electoral educators for the 2023 general elections, has hailed and passed a vote of confidence on the Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner , Mr Monday Udoh Torm, for his superlative performance in the just concluded PresÃdential and National Assembly elections conducted on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
The National PresÃdent of the CDGGN Electoral Educators Group, Olorogun Francis Vevakpor, who spoke in Warri Delta State in his assessment speech, noted that the election in Delta was & free fair and credible, adding that Mr Monday Udoh the INEC
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) did his utmost best to sanitize the exercise in line with international best practice .
He emphasised that the observable pockets of infractions during the PresÃdential Polls in Delta were products of communication gaps bordering on security britches which are not issues that are squarely on the shoulders of INEC.
The INEC/Electoral Educator remarked that some of the Polling Units where the election results were not captured and transmitted to the lNEC Reviewing Portal (lRev) as earlier promised by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu the INEC Chair, was due to Presiding Officers (POs) who misplaced or lost their pass code numbers and they where not too familiar with the operational manual of the Biometric Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machine since it was the first time they were handling it in practical terms in a field operation under pressure from a highly
expectant Nigerian electorates.
Olorogun Francis Vevakpor asserted that the Governorship and the State House of Assembly elections based on the credibility and pedigree Mr Monday Udoh Torm, the Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Deltans in particular and Nigerians in general can be assured that the Saturday, March 11, 2023, polls will be more perfect than the presidential election because the various adhoc Staff engaged in the electioneering process are getting better aquatinted and acclamatized to the use of the BVAS.
He called on all eligible Deltans and other Nigerian citizens resident in Delta
State to exercise their franchise by coming out en masse to cast their ballot to choose whoever they want to be their Governor and their House of Assembly representatives because it is their civic responsibility.
Olorogun Francis Vevakpor, again, extolled the managerial acumen of the Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner saying: “The CDGGN Group, AKA the Voice of Delta has complete belief and strong trust in Monday Udoh Torm because of the track record of his previous performance during the February 25 presidential election.
In summation, he expressed optimism saying: “As the National PresÃdent of CDGGN, based on what we have seen so far, l can assure Deltans that indeed Monday Udoh Torm has what it takes to conduct free, fair, and credible election to the admiration of all Deltans.
