RAMADAN: ALGON National President Congratulates Muslims, Calls For Peace And Love
Following the announcement of sighting of the new moon signalling the commencement of this year’s Ramadan, the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Kolade David Alabi, has sent in his goodwill message to Muslim faithfuls all over the country.
He urged them to use the opportunity of this year’s 1444AH fasting season commencing this Thursday, March 23, 2023 to seek the face of Almighty Allah.
According to him “this year’s 30 days of Ramadan fasting require more aggressive resolve across the local governments and area councils to ensure renewed prayers, abstinence, alms giving (Zakkat) and intense spiritual exercise of virtues of Islam”.
The National President also urged Muslim faithfuls all over Nigeria to “endeavour to demonstrate
deep introspection with greatest devotion and
fear of Allah.”
He urged them to pray for all the newly elected office holders to lead with interest of the people who voted them and to have fear of Allah in delivering on their campaign promises.
He called for continued tolerance amongst ethnic and religious divide to create a peaceful environment where everyone is respected and coexist.
He concluded by urging the Muslim adherents “to use the opportunity to pray for a functional local government system” which according to him is “the closest tier of government to the people and need to operate with optimal momentum and political will through constitutional means just like the state Assembly that now enjoy autonomy.”
He expressed hope that “Local Governments under ALGON will not rest on their oars to continue to seek justice for financial freedom until justice is served”, he concluded.
