One Year In Office: Anyamelum Council Boss And ALGON Chairman Anambra State Hon. Livi Onyenwe Salutes Governor Soludo, Lists Gains

The Executive Chairman of Anyamelum Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman of Anambra state Hon Livi Onyenwe has on behalf of the 21 local governments of the state congratulated the Chief servant and Executive Governor of ndi Anambra, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo alongside his Deputy for successful 365 days in office.

In a press statement issues in Awka the state capital, Hon. Onyenwe remarked that obvious signs of accomplishments in just one year have been very impressive and attributing them to the leadership ingenuity of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

He said that his policy direction were all people-oriented, friendly and prioritized.

The ALGON Chairman thanked the Governor for his efforts in addressing insecurity, roads, infrastructure challenges, and other enormous challenges as promised ndi Anambra.

He said that the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter will continue to remain loyal and supportive towards actualizing the Governors leadership direction as contained in his five pillars solution agenda’s as encapsulated in his manifesto which in his words will ‘enable ndi Anambra to become a new axis of prosperity. Hon. Onyenwe listed several projects that are ongoing in the state which have made it a construction site to behold.

He applauded on behalf of his fellow Chairmen the awarding and mobilizing contractors to sites of 261 kilometers of roads to all 21 local governments, with cement stabilization and stone bases guaranteed to last for 20 years. A project which according to him is a precursor to rural development and a patriotic action. He described such rapid response as having declared a state of emergency on roads which have been well cascaded down to economically impact every LGAs.

He commended his political will to attack issues of flooding issues in the cities and communities noting that ndi Amanbra land mass is facing uncommon existential threat which has made it the world’s erosion capital thereby shrinking substantial portion of its land mass due to erosion and climate change.

In the issue of ensuring 24 hours power supply every day, he said that the constituents were excited with the political will of Gocernor Soludo having signed an agreement with EEDC on power transmission and distribution in Anambra alongside the return of night live and business economy through the recent 6,380 diesel-powered streetlights converted into solar streetlights which the LGas are benefiting from. On the ongoing modernization of riverine water transportation in some parts of the state, he encouraged his political will in concessioning water supply in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, and Ihiala, as well as laying 2000km of fiber optics ducts to ensure last mile connectivity for accessing high-speed internet for ndi Anambra which according to Onyenwe will serve as the foundation for establishing establishing a digital ecosystem.

Hon. Onyenwe commended the foresight of the governor in areas of tourism using the Agulu Lake to build an Africa leisure and entertainment hub known as African Disney Land an idea of a true developed economy with potential to wealth creation.

Listing other gains, the ALGON Chairman observed that the new palm and coconut revolution is underway in agriculture to create wealth and mitigate economic hardship appreciating that the state is an agrarian state with explore-able aquatic splendor.

On industrial clusters and export Emporium, he appreciated the Governor for acquiring hundreds of hectares in this regard alongside those of automotive industrial park in Akwihedi, Unubi, and Uga as well as in Ogboji for Anambra pharmaceutical hub.

He said that what has been very consistent of the Governor is his prioritizing the needs of the people with sense of balance in localizing the projects thereby carrying every part of the state along.

Siting the area of human capital development which is critical to the state, Hon Onyenwe stated that the Governor political will has led to recruiting of 5000 teachers for the state carried out with due diligence and in most transparent manner to revolutionize the education value chain in the state.

He also said that ALGON under his watch will remain grateful to these lofty gestures which comes in quick succession as yet another recent signing of an agreement with Microsoft for technology transfer in ICT of which over 20,000 young ndi Anambra that will benefit its fundamental and advanced digital skills comes alive.

He maintained that the rural dwellers will greatly benefit in the ongoing resolve to build a digital tribe and ICT ecosystem as well as e solution innovation district in the state.

The ALGON Chairman thanked Governor Soludo for his interventions in health sector leading to the upgrading three general hospitals in Ekwulobia, Enugwu Ukwu, and Umuleri, including dental units, hired 244 medical personnel, and activated a ministry of health taskforce.

Onyenwe praised the Governor for the ongoing reform on how Government works in terms of social infrastructure and value system through reform in MDAs transitioning the state from transactional to transformational governance which has saved the state billions of Naira from new contracts awarded to the state government.

He described him as a team player who respects separation and balance of power in governance, he said that the harmonious relationship existing between him and his Executive Council, the members of the state Assembly and the Judiciary is one that must be commended.

Hon. Onyenwe concluded by thanking the Governor for his aggressive dexterity in raising the IGR profile from 1.5 billion naira monthly to 2 billion naira monthly with a target of reaching 5 billion in 2023 and promised that ALGON will stop at nothing to give all its necessary support while thanking Governor Soludo for rebuilding the Local Government Secretariats that were burned down by criminals.
