A group of Nigerians has urged 109 Senators-elect who are set to be inaugurated as part of the 10th National Assembly tomorrow, Tuesday, June 13, to support the anointed candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as they make another leg of history.

Under the umbrella of the Good Governance Support Group for Godswill Obot Akpabio, they appealed to APC Senators-elect to respect party supremacy ahead of the election of 10th Assembly leadership and elect the party’s preferred aspirants.

The support group is a broad amalgamation of diverse people from all over the country and the diaspora, who have embraced the fact and swore to publicly impress on the 109 senators-elect and indeed all Nigerians that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, is best suited to lead the 10th Senate. 10th NASS Leadership: Group Makes Case For Akpabio As President of the 10th Senate, Appeals Senators-elect

The group argued that “this is not a forum to read the citation of this great Akwa Ibom son. His indelible landmarks, dotted on the political skies of Akwa Ibom State, serve as eloquent testimony.

“So, this is not a time to read his biography. It is a time to speak directly to the 109 achievers who are set to make another leg of history tomorrow. It is a time to appeal to the other distinguished gentlemen elected on the platform of the other political parties.

“It is a time to ask them to sheathe narrow Parochial and or partisan considerations for the overall success Of Our national voyage.

“We have all boarded the ship of Renewed Hope. Nigerians need a legislative captain with proven ability that can stir through the waters of our present challenges, working collectively with the Commander-in-Chief and other captains, to berth us ashore, on the side of verifiable good governance. Godswill Akpabio is that captain.
