As Nigeria joins the global Muslim community in celebrating Eid-al-Fitri, Hon. Alabi Kolade David, Emeritus National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Executive Committee Member of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG-Africa), extends heartfelt felicitations to Muslims nationwide.
Hon. Alabi Kolade David described Eid-al-Fitri as “not only a celebration of the completion of Ramadan but also a triumph of resilience, a renewal of faith, and a reminder of our collective strength. It is a season of love, compassion, and hope—a time to embrace one another and recommit to building a Nigeria where unity and justice prevail.”
He further urged: “As we break fast and renew our spirits, let us harness the values of compassion, empathy, and selflessness taught by Prophet Muhammad (SWT). These values are the bedrock of our shared humanity and the key to overcoming the challenges before us.”
Hon. Alabi Kolade David paid special tribute to Nigeria’s rural communities, calling them “the heartbeat of our nation.” He praised their strength, confidence, and unwavering faith in the future, noting that despite hardships, they remain resilient and carry the torch of hope. “True development begins at the grassroots,” he emphasized, pledging ALGON’s commitment to closing the development gap and ensuring that every local government becomes a hub of peace, dignity, and prosperity.
He also highlighted the importance of trust in leadership as a vital ingredient of national progress. Hon. Alabi Kolade David urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is gaining both global recognition and local momentum. “Together, let us keep hope alive, allow government reforms to take root, and drive the change we all need,” he said.
Hon. Alabi Kolade David concludes with a message of love and optimism: “Eid-al-Fitri reminds us that with unity, compassion, and faith, Nigeria can rise above its challenges and shine as a beacon of hope for Africa and the world.”
