The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly refuted claims of internal division, declaring that there is “no such thing as a ‘faction’” within the party and dismissing reports of a group operating as “PRP-Vanguard Collective” as entirely false.
In a detailed press statement issued on April 28, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, categorically rejected the existence of any splinter group, stating: “It is important to categorically state that there is no such thing as a ‘faction’ within the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). The claims by some individuals or group claiming to operate under a fictitious ‘PRP-Vanguard Collective’ are baseless and do not represent the reality of our party.”
The statement further discredited those behind the claims, asserting that “these so-called individuals are nobody of consequence and are not known by the PRP leadership or its members.”
Questioning the timing of the allegations, the party linked the narrative to its growing national relevance. “Why is it that we are just hearing about these claims now, at a time when PRP is gaining wider political attention and gathering more momentum?” the statement queried. “It is clear that these distractions are attempts by certain interests to undermine our progress, but we remain undeterred.”
The PRP emphasized its readiness to confront both overt and covert challenges, insisting that it would not succumb to pressure or misinformation. “We want to make it known that we cannot and will not be shaken by intimidation, media distortion, or propaganda. We are prepared for both genuine and manufactured aggressions,” the statement read.
It added a warning against misinterpreting the party’s composure: “Let there be no mistake: our restraint should not be mistaken for weakness. Our principled party and members will always remain lawful and peaceful, while firmly resisting attacks, misinformation, and unfair criticism from the ruling party, its proxies, and agents anywhere.”
Describing the allegations as predictable in light of its rising profile, the PRP said: “These rustic antics and tactics are, to some extent, expected as PRP continues to grow and make its mark in Nigerian politics. But know this: they will never succeed in stopping the forward march of PRP.” The statement reinforced its confidence with a declaration: “As the saying goes, ‘no man can stop what God has destined.’ The wickedness and desperation of these syndicates may blind them to the reality, but our resolve remains firm.”
The party also issued a message of reassurance to its members and supporters nationwide. “To our members and supporters: do not be discouraged by these fleeting shenanigans. PRP is a moving train of redemption, and nothing can stop it until Nigeria and Nigerians are truly redeemed,” it stated.
Highlighting its long-standing legacy, the party described itself as “Nigeria’s oldest political party,” underscoring its endurance through decades of political upheaval. “Having endured nearly five decades—standing tall through military regimes, upheavals, and machinations—we have demonstrated strength, adaptability, and stability,” the statement said, adding that “this enduring legacy affirms that no weak or corrupt individuals or party can undermine us now or in the future.”
Reaffirming its commitment to its founding ideals and national aspirations, the PRP declared: “We are ready, and we have begun. The future belongs to those who stand firm in truth and principle. PRP remains committed to its ideals, its members, and the Nigerian people.”
The party concluded with a firm pledge to stay the course despite ongoing distractions: “We will not be distracted, we will not be deterred, and we will continue to march forward until Nigeria’s true redemption is achieved.”
The statement comes amid heightened political activity across Nigeria, as parties consolidate structures and refine strategies in anticipation of future electoral contests, with the PRP signaling its determination to expand its influence while maintaining internal cohesion.
