The Marine Club of Nigeria (MCN) has appreciated maritime stakeholders in the country, including supportive individuals, companies and government agencies involved in the Nigerian maritime and maritime-related industries, otherwise known as the Nigerian Maritime Economy (NIME).

MCN President, Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu, in a statement at the weekend noted that with their support, the Marine Club “have weathered the storm associated with maritime associations in particular, professional and business associations in general.”

Dr Jideofo-Ogbuagu added, “We can count many who started life before us, those who started at same time with us in 2003 and those that were founded after us…all now rested.

“But we are still here, ever working hard to provide what our members and the NIME expect of us – growth of individual careers of our members, the NIME businesses and NIME government agencies, for whom we advocate and represent on non-governmental basis.

“We cannot claim to have satisfied all our members and the NIME. To those we have not satisfied, the Management rededicate ourselves to satisfying them”, he said.

The MCN President maintained that “even now that MCN will become more exclusive in its membership and more activist in its mode of engagement, there will still be a place for non-members who operate in same economic and business space with the members.

“To activities marking our 20th anniversary, we seek same support as you — members and non-members alike — have given MCN over our first 20 years of existence”, the statement concluded.
