DIG Pedro Holds Interactive Session With Stakeholders, Officers and Men Of Akwa Ibom State Police Command

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South-South geopolitical zone, DIG Daniel Sokari Pedro, has paid a two-day duty tour to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Ikot Akpanabia.

DIG Pedro, who is the supervising DIG in charge of the geopolitical zone also doubles as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, ICT of the Nigerian Police Force.

He was accompanied on the visit by Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Zone 6, AIG Jonathan Towuru.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, on behalf of the state Commissioner Of Police, upon arrival at the State Police Command, the DIG held an interactive session with security stakeholders.

At the interactive session, issues of security were discussed and with a charge on the stakeholders to understand that security is everybody’s business.

The DIG called on them to assist and support the police in information gathering, intelligence sharing and also report every suspicious activities in their domain to the Police. He also solicited for logistics support towards the fight against crime in the State.

He thereafter addressed officers and men of the Command where he appreciated the efforts of the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, in fighting crime.

He noted that the CP’s achievements within the short time he has worked in the State are commendable.

The statement added that DIG Pedro then “charged personnel to be more dedicated to duties, shun acts of cowardice and extortion, adopt intelligence gathering techniques in the face of daunting security challenges.”

He spoke extensively on the need for officers and men of the command to be updated on social media policies as well as being mindful of the fundamental human rights of citizens in the course of discharging their professional duties.Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South-South geopolitical zone, DIG Daniel Sokari Pedro, has paid a two-day duty tour to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Ikot Akpanabia.

He equally cautioned personnel on the importance of knowing when to use firearms in line with the Force order.

At the end of the meeting with men and officers of the Force, the DIG and his entourage were received on a courtesy visit by the Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno at the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo.

In his address to the Governor the DIG appreciated the Governor for providing a conducive atmosphere to the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State CP Waheed Ayilara and the Nigerian Police Force, which he said has enhanced the war against crime in the State and solicited for more. He promised the State Chief Executive the Police determination towards ensuring that Akwa Ibom State is rid of criminal elements.

In his response Governor Umo Eno appreciated the DIG for the visit where he noted that it will boost the morale of officers and men of the Force in Akwa Ibom Command.

He commended the Police “for professionalism and expressed confidence in the Police Force under the Leadership of Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.”

The Governor described the Nigerian Police as “a critical Institution needed for a safe and secured society and promised more partnership especially in terms of providing logistics”, the statement concluded.
