As Nigeria basks in the glow of Democracy Day, a wave of support sweeps across the nation for the coronation of Olakulehin as Olubadan of Ibadanland. The momentum builds with notable figures like Yakassai, Eda Onile-Ola, Bolanle Awe, and various civil societies rallying behind the cause.

The fervor is part of a larger tapestry of celebration, marking 30 years since MKO Abiola’s historic self-declaration, with events culminating at MKO Abiola House in Lagos. Spearheaded by Comrade Awa Bamiji, a veteran activist, this year’s National Discourse by Pro-Democracy Groups shines a spotlight on national unity and honors heroes of democracy.

Looking ahead, September 23rd promises another landmark event to honor Chief Lere Paimo at the University of Ibadan. With President Tinubu and First Lady as special guests, and Governor Sanwo-Olu delivering a lecture in Yoruba, it’s a testament to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and unwavering spirit of democracy.
