Kwara State is set to hold its monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. The exercise aims to promote cleanliness and hygiene across the state, with residents encouraged to participate by cleaning their residential and business environments.
As part of the exercise, residents are mandated to clear drainages and bushes around their surroundings for health and safety reasons. To ensure the effectiveness of the exercise, there will be a restriction on vehicular movement across the state within the three-hour duration of the exercise.
Security agencies, monitoring agents, environmental health officers, and members of the Environmental Task Force will be deployed to monitor and ensure compliance with the exercise. Sanctions will be imposed on offenders as necessary.
Waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent dumping at government-approved dump sites. Residents are warned against dumping refuse on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainages, canals, and other unapproved dump sites, as this is considered an offense.
The Kwara State Government has emphasized its commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, and the monthly sanitation exercise is a key component of this effort.
