In a significant gesture of support and commitment, the alumni association of Ajayi Crowther University has donated a Sienna bus worth millions of naira to their alma mater.

This generous donation is intended to facilitate the movement and activities of the university’s principal officers, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

The donation was made on Wednesday during the university’s 16th convocation ceremonies and Alumni Lecture, held at the Folorunsho Alakija Law Faculty. These events were part of a series of activities celebrating the university’s academic achievements and its ongoing efforts to nurture excellence among its students.

Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, President of the Alumni Association, highlighted the association’s continuous support for the university through various donations.

“We have been supporting the university with various donations,” Ogunlade stated. Under his leadership, the alumni association has previously donated a set of computers to the Transcripts Department, significantly easing the process of transcript collection for former students both within and outside Nigeria.

During the ceremony, the Alumni Executives also recognized and awarded selected staff members for their long-serving dedication to the university. This gesture underscores the association’s appreciation for the hard work and commitment of the university’s staff.

Mr. Ogunlade, who also chairs the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the university’s development.

He announced the upcoming launch of the Alumni website in December 2024, which will provide a platform for former students, both locally and in the diaspora, to connect and collaborate towards achieving greater goals as a unified body.

While handing over the bus to the Vice-Chancellor, Ogunlade emphasized the importance of alumni contributions to the university’s growth.

“The school authorities alone cannot provide all the needs of the institution. We urge all old students to contribute to the development of their alma mater,” he said. He further noted, “To meet the increasing demand for quality education, the university urgently requires the support of its old students to enhance the infrastructure on its campuses.”

In response, Professor Timothy Adebayo, Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, expressed profound gratitude to the alumni association for their continuous support. “We are grateful to the university’s alumni for purchasing this bus. It is timely, and we appreciate it,” Professor Adebayo remarked.

Professor Adebayo also highlighted the university’s numerous achievements over the past year, including signing several pacts with various bodies and institutions. These partnerships have significantly contributed to academic developments, stability, accreditation, and the expansion of the university’s frontiers.

The alumni delegation at the event included other executive members, such as the National Secretary, Yemisi Peters, among others.
